Artist’s Note
Painting is a philosophy — va constant contemplation of color’s temperature, saturation, weight, and meaning.
It is pure synthesis: combining a few hues to unleash their strength, beauty, and power.
A painter shouldn't just paint, but let colors come alive to speak for themselves.
And then, it happens...

Upon first encountering Rafał Kapica's works from the SUN series, presented as photographs, one almost automatically looks for analogies with the art of Wojciech Fangor. Yet, a direct encounter with the paintings reveals essential differences. The reason lies in the origin of the circle, its expression, and the method of painterly visualization. Kapica's art propels earthly dawns and sunsets, glows, and emanations into universal spaces...
Cosmos, powerful cosmic bursts accompanying the birth of supernovas, but also epiphanies captured in the universal language of abstraction. It is a never-ending story of his fascination with conveying onto the canvas surface the changing nature of light. By patiently applying successive layers of color and varying the texture of the painting's surface, he recreates the shifting nature of light. Stylistically consistent, solar paintings by Rafał Kapica are distinguished not only by pure aesthetic value but also by an excellent mastery of the craft and precision of execution.

Rafał Kapica's paintings represent an attempt to visualize intriguing phenomena and forces of nature; a materialization and a quest for permanence in what is inherently transient. Among them, a special place is occupied by optical phenomena related to the sun as a symbol of life and energy.
The solar motif appears on many of his canvases with pulsating circles. Their substance intrigues, playing with the eye through glowing forms, an illusion of an approaching and receding space. The rough, layered surface preserves the memory of brushstrokes, drawing, and free paint splashing. They emanate many colors that react deeply to light.
In Kapica's intimate yet large-scale paintings, we find an attempt to capture and encapsulate light, time, and space—the mystery of the Universe filtered through the artist's sensitivity.
